The Story

TASTING NOTES: Nectarine, clementine, honey, juicy, soft & silky

Smallholder farmers from the mountains surrounding Refisa deliver coffee cherries to the Refisa washing station daily during the coffee harvest. Upon delivery, coffee cherries are hand sorted. After sorting, the coffee is fermented underwater for 48-72 hours before being washed, soaked for 5 hours and finally dried on raised beds for 8-10 days.

While the village of Refisa and region of West Arsi are not widely recognized as origins of the highest quality Ethiopian coffee, this is certain to change. Heirloom varieties of coffee are grown alongside quality local cultivars of coffee on small plots of land at high elevation. Volcanic soil and fresh water abound and the newly built processing centers offer state of the art processing equipment. At the inaugural Ethiopian Cup of Excellence coffee tasting competition in 2020, one third of the winners were from the district of Nansebo, West Arsi.

This coffee is simultaneously soft, bright and intense. We enjoy the pronounced stone fruit flavors and honey like sweetness. From Refisa, Ethiopia, please enjoy this delicious cup of coffee.
